Percy The Pine Tree

One day a Pine Tree called Percy started to grow in a Forest full of Oak Trees.
As Percy was growing he just assumed he was also an Oak Tree.
He knew he looked different but he just didn't know why.
The Oak Trees also had Percy believing he was an Oak Tree just because they wanted him to copy them.
Day after day, Year after year, Percy tried to copy the Oak Trees. But no matter what he did he just didn't fit in with them. This made Percy feel sad and sometimes it even made him feel angry.

One day something changed inside Percy. As he watched the last Oak leaf falling to the ground on a Sunny Autumn day. Percy decided he had wasted too many years trying to fit in with the Oak Trees. He thought to himself 'I'm going to Enjoy this Lovely Autumn day'.

As Percy was Enjoying the Lovely Warmth of the Autumn Sun through the bare branches of the Oak Trees, he spotted a Beautiful Tree on the other side of the Forest.
The Tree's Trunk Glowed in the Sunlight.
Percy had never noticed the Beautiful Tree before as he'd always been too focused on trying to fit in with the Oak Trees.
Percy realised that the Beautiful Tree was still Green, just like he was, and it didn't have bare branches like the Oak Trees.

That night Percy couldn't get the image of the Beautiful Tree out of his mind.
Mr Owl was resting on one of the branches of the nearby Oaks.
Percy asked "Mr Owl, what is that Tree on the other side of the Forest?".
Mr Owl replied "His name is Sir Stewart, he's a Scots Pine Tree. You know what Percy, you look a lot like him". And off Mr Owl flew silently into the night.

Percy thought to himself 'Am I a Scots Pine too? No, no I can't be. The Oaks have Always said that I'm an Oak and I'll Always be an Oak, so I must be an Oak'.
However Percy felt inside that he was different. He knew that he'd tried All his life to fit in with the Oaks and it just didn't feel right.

The next day as the Sun rose Percy Admired Sir Stewart's Glowing Trunk.
As he looked down at his own Trunk a Beam of Sunlight had come through the nearby Oaks branches and Percy was Amazed, his Trunk Glowed like Sir Stewart's.
Filled with Joy Percy now knew he wasn't an Oak Tree, he was a Scots Pine.
He no longer felt like he needed to fit in with the Oak Trees as he was made in the Image of Sir Stewart.
He felt OverJoyed that he finally knew Who he was Created to be.

Percy watched Sir Stewart all Autumn and Winter as he knew the Oak Leaves would start to grow in Spring and in Summertime when the leaves where fully grown he would no longer be able to see him.
Percy kept a Clear Image of Sir Stewart in his mind. He no longer focused on trying to fit in and be like the Oak Trees.
He was a Scots Pine and this Filled him with Joy.

One cold Winters day Boris the Blackbird and Rosie the Robin landed on Percy's branches.
"Hello Percy" said Boris, "You wouldn't mind if we stayed the night as it's cold out there and the Oaks have no leaves to protect us".
"Yes of course, come and snuggle in my branches and keep Warm" Percy replied.
Rosie said "Thank You Percy, your Pines keep us Nice and Warm".
Percy realised one of his purposes as a Pine Tree was to provide a Safe Warm place in Winter for his friends.
He Loved that he was a Scots Pine Tree, it Filled him with Joy, especially now knowing he was able to Help his friends. He was finally Happy within himself as he knew who he was Created to be.
There are many Oak Trees in our lives that deceive us into believing them that we are who they say we are, but we also have a Sir Stewart in our lives.
His Name is Jesus and we are made in His Image. The leaves of society will surround us and even cloud our vision, but if we keep our minds Focused on Jesus and Follow Him we'll be the people who God Created us to be.
